It’s hard not to love silver jewellery. Versatile, timeless, glamorous, it’s easy to see why silver is a popular choice for jewellery. Still, many of us find ourselves neglecting our silver pieces for one simple, annoying reason: tarnish. When oxygen or sulfur come in contact with silver, they chemically bond to its surface and cause the silver to appear dirty or discolored. Who wants that? But, not to worry! I've put together 5 easy steps you can take to keep your silver jewellery tarnish free!
3. AVOID EXPOSURE Chemicals in lotions and perfumes will accelerate tarnishing. Apply them first, let them dry, and then put your jewellery on. Also, make sure to take off your silver jewellery before you go swimming and sunbathing. Chlorine in swimming pools is a pretty harsh chemical, so if you accidentally forget to remove your silver jewellery before hopping in, make sure to rinse and clean it afterward. 4. POLISH IT PRETTY Clean your silver pieces regularly with mild soap (e.g. dish-washing liquid) and water and polish gently with a soft cloth.
